DSS (Phil Stearns and Cassia Streb)
was a group with which I performed from 2006-2008. Learned many things from my band mates in that time
and was at least able to introduce them to FM Transmitter feedback. Here's the blurb from our site:
DSS is a group of improvisers based in Los Angeles working in both acoustic and electronic mediums. Our sonic palate is composed of mixer feedback, DIY and custom hacked circuitry, FM transmitters, and (amplified) viola. Our performances involve a mix of free improv, graphic score interpretation, and audience interaction. At the crux of our improvisation practice is the use of FM transmitters which serve to tie each of our instruments together and diffuse the notion of control amongst the group and audience. |
